Will Akerlof, president of Liquid Advertising, uses Wikia for video game marketing as a vehicle to find “hard-core, dedicated fans.”The folks who go there “aren’t part of the general public discussion, because the whole world isn’t as interested. It’s a very narrow target,” he says.

WILL AKERLOF SPEAKS AT DIGITAL HOLLYWOOD

On Thursday Will Akerlof spoke on a panel at Digital Hollywood. The session was titled: Advertising and Micro-Commerce, Games and Game Networks – Mobile, Broadband and Console – Serving Individuals and Communities of Interest. Will spoke of the integration of branding and and direct marketing techniques to maximize returns on marketing investments for a wide variety of games, on different platforms with very different revenue models.
